Ben Moodie

Dr. Ben Moodie is a specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Pretoria, South Africa. He obtained his medical degree in 2009 from the University of Pretoria, completed three years of General Surgery specialist training between 2014 and 2016, then pursued Plastic Surgery specialist training from 2017 to 2021 at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. In 2021 he earned his master's degree in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and became a Fellow of the College of Plastic Surgery of South Africa.

He trained internationally under Prof JP Hong in South Korea, Profs Isao Koshima and Takumi Yamamoto in Japan, and Profs Jaume Masia and Gemma Pons in Spain. Locally, he joined the department of Plastic Surgery and ENT at Groote Schuur under Profs Johan Fagan, Ottie van Zyl, and Conrad Pienaar to develop expertise in head and neck reconstruction and microsurgery.

He describes plastic surgery as his "life's calling," and is dedicated to offering modern, patient-centred treatment for both functional and aesthetic concerns, with an emphasis on solving complex surgical problems while creating harmony, symmetry and beauty.

He is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and belongs to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the International Microsurgery Forum, the Reconstructive Microsurgery European School, and the Society of Rhinoplasty Surgeons of South Africa.
